A bit of Spring in Fall

It’s unseasonably warm and moist after a generous rainfall, the air damp and full of earthy fragrance.

The water line is as high as it’s been since May.  The waterfall rushes again for the first time since June.  The spillway catches fallen branches, and rivulets run down the mountain through the thick layer of leaves.

The brown mudflat remnants of summer’s wet meadow return to shallows, delighting the migrating geese.
